Sirigiya’s treasures
The ‘Lion’s Rock’ is emblematic of Sri Lanka’s rich heritage, and has enticed the curious - not to mention royalty - for many millennia.
Peak pilgrimage
Take a deep breath and begin the 5000 step ascent up Adam’s peak. It's certainly a tiring climb but the sublime views will repay your efforts.
When's the best time to go?
Sri Lanka’s location close to the equator ensures that you can rely on year-round warmth, but the monsoons complicate the picture as they affect different parts of the island at different times.
Locals claim that the sun is always shining somewhere on the island, but for reliably settled weather without excessive humidity the best time to visit is between December and March.

Sri Lanka’s appeal is its diversity
This multifaceted island nation can fulfil many entries on your holiday wish list. Take in the historical ambiance of the Dutch colonial old town at Galle, its pleasing and attractive streets sheltering quirky shops, cafes and galleries. Hop along the southern beaches and choose your very own favourite strip of paradise, whether it's a prime spot for surf, stilt fishing or whale watching. Explore the national parks in search of leopards, elephants, monkeys and jackals, as well as impressive birdlife, and a great chance to spend time in untouched Sri Lankan landscapes.
The cultural capital of Kandy is the centre of Sinhalese culture and home to the revered Sacred Tooth Relic, as well as making a good base for forays out into the surrounding hill country for cool strolls and visits to tea plantations. The cultural headliners outside the cities include the Sigiriya rock formation, jutting skywards and sheltering rich artistic and historic treasures. The Dambulla caves with their eye catching ranks of Buddhas are a unique temple experience, while the northern Tamil region has its own flavour and history, and feels like an intrepid location to explore.
After a moment of inspiration in 2009, Viraj Fernando grabbed his camera and wandered off around Sri Lanka, trying to see as much as he could and delve deeper into the local culture. From this journey, the company was born, in an effort to bring to life the complexity and beauty of our incredible island! We have hosted nearly 5,000 travellers in the last few years and have a reputation as one of the most knowledgeable local travel companies in the country. We are members of the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau and, like all companies on TravelLocal, we are locally-owned.
